‘Tum Bin’ star Himanshu Malik REACTS to re-release of the 2001 classic: ‘It didn’t get the box office numbers it deserves, hope it gets fulfilled now’ | – Times of India

Actor-turned-producer-director Himanshu Malik is thrilled about the re-release of his 2001 classic Tum Bin on September 20. He recenlty reminisced about how the film, driven by content rather than star power, marked a significant moment for first-time producers and directors. Malik feels a deep sense of satisfaction in the film’s enduring impact and its return to theaters.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor emphasizes that the story and content were key strengths behind the film’s re-release.He expressed surprise at how many people still associate him with Tum Bin, noting that its emotional depth and powerful narrative have made a lasting impact. He believes this demonstrates the strength of a compelling story.

Malik reflects on how this moment reminds him of when Tum Bin initially struggled at the box office but later received significant appreciation, much like recent re-releases such as Laila Majnu and Tumbbad. He expressed hope that this re-release will finally bring the film the box office success it deserves, acknowledging that it took time for audiences to truly connect with it. With optimism, he wishes for the filmmakers to see strong collections this time around.

He attributes the resurgence of the film industry to old classics, noting that, post-pandemic, the industry has experienced a significant shift in economics. He mentioned that filmmakers are still figuring out what works, and the re-releases, including Tum Bin, are helping to break the dry spell. He expressed his happiness that audiences are returning to cinemas.
Discussing his upcoming projects, Malik shared that he will produce a new film titled Parrot, which is set to begin production in February next year. He also mentioned that he has acted in several projects, including the recently announced Baby Do Die Do, along with others in the pipeline.
