Navi Mumbai: A 28-year-old man was arrested by Rabale police for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 31-year-old woman from Ghansoli. The accused has been identified as Ajay Teli residing in Airoli node. The victim died at her Ghansoli residence on April 7 around 7 pm.Police had prima facie registered an accidental death report. During the panchnama of the crime scene, the police team seized a diary in which a suicide note was written naming Teli alleging he had subjected her to mental and physical harassment after reneging from his marriage promise and forced her to undergo abortion.A police officer said based on the suicide note, the deceased woman’s father had on April 9 registered an FIR against Teli, who was booked under relevant sections of BNS for abetment of suicide, causing a miscarriage without the woman’s consent, intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace and voluntarily causing hurt. He was arrested from his Airoli residence on the same day. As per the FIR, in Jan, Teli had established love relationship with her daughter, who was already married. He compelled her to get divorced by assuring that he will marry her. However, after divorce, when the woman insisted on Teli to get married to her, he showed reluctance. Teli allegedly harassed her physically and mentally by deliberately suspecting her fidelity.
