Mumbai: Many auto unions, including Mumbai Autorickshawmen’s Union, BJP-led Navbharatiya Shiv Vahatuk Sanghatana, Seva Sarathi union, among others, have begun coaching auto taxi drivers in functional Marathi. This is apart from Tardeo and Andheri RTOs teaching Marathi to drivers at their premises. The state transport dept made it mandatory for all drivers to have basic functional knowledge of Marathi, and the deadline set is Aug 15.
