When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reacted to post-pregnancy body-shaming; Stated she was never the one to endorse the ‘size zero’ trend | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

After the birth of her daughter Aaradhya in 2011, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became a target of criticism for her post-pregnancy weight gain. Despite the negative comments, Aishwarya has consistently emphasized the importance of living authentically and not allowing societal pressures to dictate her life. In recent candid interviews, she remarked that the changes in her body were natural and that she never wanted to set unrealistic beauty standards by rushing to lose weight. She also noted that her primary focus was her baby and embracing the real moments of motherhood.
During a 2015 interview, Aishwarya addressed the trolling she faced during her pregnancy, stating that the comments did not bother her. Despite the criticism, she received overwhelming support from women who gained confidence in embracing their postpartum bodies. Aishwarya strongly believes that motherhood is about living a real life without the pressure to conform to societal expectations. While many actresses opt for “quick fixes” to regain their figures, Aishwarya took her time, prioritizing both her health and her baby’s well-being. She demonstrated that there isn’t a single right way to approach motherhood.
In the interview, Aishwarya said, “It was natural in my case; that was the natural turn my body took, whether it was weight gain, water retention, or whatever else comes with the territory. I was comfortable, and that’s why I’ve always been true to myself. I stepped out in public when I could take time away from my baby. If I thought it was a big deal, I would have hidden away or done something drastic.”
She continued, “I wasn’t disturbed by the comments. If people were, I hope they enjoyed the drama because I was busy living a very real life with my baby. The most positive outcome for me was hearing from so many women who said, ‘Thank you, you’ve given us the confidence to embrace our bodies.’ I wasn’t on a mission to prove a point; I was just being real.”
“This is reality; this is who I am. I’m a mother, and this happens, and it happened to me, and that’s okay. I have never been one to endorse the ‘size zero‘ trend anyway. People speculated about my pregnancy long before it happened, which just shows that I’ve always lived a real life in the public eye.”
Even today, Aishwarya faces body-shaming, but it doesn’t weigh on her. She remains focused on her personal well-being and maintains a positive attitude. She hopes her approach has given many women the confidence to appreciate their own bodies after pregnancy.
