Stree 2 beats Baahubali 2 and RRR to have the 7th biggest weekend of Indian Cinema | Hindi Movie News – Times of India


Amar Kaushik‘s Stree 2, written by Niren Bhatt, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has achieved yet another milestone. Last week the film went on to become the highest grossing film of Hindi Cinema beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.

Now in its 7th weekend, the film has set another benchmark by minting the most amount of money for any film in this period beating the likes of SS Rajamouli-Prabhas’ Baahubali 2 and SS Rajamouli- Ram Charan- Jr NTR’s RRR.
Stree 2 collected just Rs 90 lakh on 7th Friday but on Saturday the film’s collection jumped by more than 130% to mint Rs 2.1 crore and on Sunday, the numbers jumped even higher to collect Rs 2.65 crore as per early estimates of Sacnilk, thus taking the weekend collection to Rs 5.65 crore and the overall collection of the film has now reached Rs 588.25 crore.
In comparison, some of the biggest films had a very pale 7th weekend, be it Prabhas starrer Baahubali 2- The Conclusion had collected just Rs 5 crore in its 7th week while Jr NTR and Ram Charan’s RRR had collected Rs 4.5 crore in the same period. While Yash’s KGF 2 was at 1.94 crore and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD was at just 15 lakh.

Jawan which was the biggest hit till recently had collected just Rs 75 lakh in the 7th weekend.
Stree 2 is part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe and it also featured Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, with cameos by Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan and Tamannaah Bhatia.
