US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said American forces could soon attack Pickaxe Mountain in Iran amid a fresh wave of strikes in the country. In an interview on The Hugh Hewitt Show, Trump said the US is closely monitoring activities at the heavily fortified site, which hosts two deeply buried tunnel complexes. He, however, rejected the possibility of Iran hiding any “doomsday weapon.“When asked whether he would insist that the IAEA inspect Pickaxe Mountain before the US entered into another deal with Iran, Trump said, “They don’t have it because we have eyes with the Space Force and everything else. We have a lot of eyes on it. But Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice, big, fat shot right near the front door. Maybe you’ll see that.”“We’re watching (Pickaxe Mountain) closely. We see no activity there. They’re not doing well with their nuclear situation. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up. So they don’t like talking about it. But we’ll probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon,” he added.Pickaxe Mountain, located near Iran’s heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, is a heavily fortified site that hosts two deeply buried tunnel complexes.According to experts, the tunnels are beyond the reach of the most powerful bunker-buster bombs in the US arsenal.Trump’s threat comes as American forces launched a new round of strikes against Iran on Monday, hours after he declared that the US Navy would reinstate the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes mark the third consecutive day of US attacks on Iran, with American forces having conducted four separate rounds of strikes against Tehran last week.US officials described those attacks as retaliation for Iran’s targeting of commercial vessels attempting to transit the vital shipping lane.
