Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and the entire ‘Laapataa Ladies’ team had been anxiously awaiting the news that their comedy-drama film would be chosen as India’s Oscar 2025 nominee. The film was chosen as India’s Oscar submission on September 23. Kiran Rao soon thanked the team and the actors on social media for making this happen. Nitanshi Goel wrote in the comments section that Rao’s film has helped a lot of people to fulfill their goals.
Kiran Rao wrote a long note thanking everyone involved in the project after learning that ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is India’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar in 2025. Nitanshi Goel, who plays Phool Kumari in the movie, took to the comments section and wrote, “Kiran mam aapne toh bahut sapne poore kar diye. I am still processing it if this is true.”
Soon after, a number of Bollywood stars praised the team in the comments section, saying that they had taken the first step towards winning the Oscar together. Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who recently got married, wrote, “Big big big congratulations Maam and a tight hug.” ‘Munjya’ actor Sharvari posted several red heart emojis. The crew received badhai from actor-writer Piyush Mishra, and Karisma Kapoor complimented them. They received love from Prateik Babbar, Dia Mirza, Bhumi Pednekar, Mona Singh, Radhika Apte, and Karan Johar, among others.
After reading Kiran’s beautiful note, actress Pratibha Ranta, who played Jaya Tripathi in the film, became emotional. Rao’s son-in-law Nupur Shikhare left numerous hearts in the comments section. Aamir Khan’s production house also commented, “Surajmukhi se Oscars tak ka safar.”
The director of Dhobi Ghat wrote in a note that she is extremely happy and pleased that their movie has been selected as India’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Awards. Nitanshi Goel also expressed her happiness on social media. Along with a picture of herself with Kiran Rao and a few clapboards hanging on the wall, she penned, “Phool english mein bataayein? feeling very happy & grateful that Laapataa Ladies is India’s official entry for Oscars 2025! Kalaakand banaane ja rahi hun aap sab ke liye. Aapki Phool.”
‘Laapataa Ladies’ also stars actors like Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles. The film was theatrically released on March 1, 2024.
