Navi Mumbai: To address traffic congestion at Kalamboli Junction, the Kalamboli Junction Improvement Project was implemented by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, and six unauthorised constructions on a service corridor in Kamothe, opposite MGM Hospital, created obstacles in the project. The unauthorised constructions department of Cidco conducted an eviction campaign and all six concrete constructions that caused obstacles in the project were completely demolished with adequate security arrangement on Tuesday. The eviction campaign was expected to give momentum to the Kalamboli Junction Improvement Project and help passengers get rid of traffic congestion at Kalamboli Junction, said a Cidco official, adding that during the site inspection, it was also noticed that a concrete structure construction was underway. Immediate eviction action was taken on the ongoing construction and encroachment on the plot was prevented, said Cidco chief vigilance officer Suresh Mengde. The action was taken under the guidance of chief vigilance officer and chief controller of Cidco Vishal Dhage and under the leadership of controller Shrikant Pawaskar of Kamothe Node. It was implemented with the participation of officers and employees of the controller unauthorised constructions (CUC) department, local police officers and employees, the Cidco police team, Cidco security guards and Maharashtra Security Force security guards.Cidco said the unauthorised constructions were evicted as they were constructed in violation of Cidco’s prevailing regulations and policies and without obtaining any official permission from Cidco. The action will continue to clear all illegal constructions on Cidco land in the coming days, an official said.
