Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday issued notice in a criminal application for cancellation of bail of the father of a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly at the wheel of the car that rammed into Ghatkopar businessman Dhrumil Patel’s scooter in Vidyavihar on February 5. Dhrumil succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for over 10 days in hospital. His widow Minal, who was riding pillion at the time of the incident, petitioned HC to cancel bail granted by a trial court to the father of the minor on March 4. Minal’s lower body was crushed and she is still undergoing medical treatment, her lawyers Atharva Dandekar and Ruben Mascarenhas submitted, when arguing that the child in conflict with law appeared to have a “blatant disregard for human life”. The HC posted the matter for hearing next on June 4.
