MrBeast and Amazon Sued Over Sexual Harassment and Mistreatment Allegations in ‘Beast Games’ | – Times of India

MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Amazon have found themselves embroiled in legal proceedings, as reportedly a class action lawsuit has been filed against both parties on the grounds of sexual assault, chronic mistreatment, and more.
Five unnamed contestants in the ‘Beast Games’ reality competition show have made these accusations according to a Variety report.
Reports suggest that the suit was filed on Monday (Sept. 16) in Los Angeles Superior Court. As aforementioned, it is a class action that aims to seek justice for all affected ‘Beast Games’ contestants. The allegations state that Amazon, MrBeast’s production company, and independent production firm Off One’s Base LLC — among others — did not pay minimum wages and overtime. They have also been accused of failing to prevent sexual harassment. They allegedly created conditions that led to infliction of emotional distress for the contestants. The accused are being alleged to have not provided the participants uninterrupted meal breaks or rest breaks. Last but not least, the lawsuit says that the accused exposed contestants to “dangerous circumstances and conditions as a condition of their employment.”
As per the complaint, the suit demands Amazon and MrBeast’s company clear the alleged unpaid wages and expenses, along with unspecified punitive monetary damages.
One of the lawyers for the anonymous contestant said, “While participants knew upon signing the contract at the production’s inception that they were facing a potentially long and challenging competition, they allege getting a lot more than they bargained for.”
He added that many contestants were hospitalized, while others reported physical and mental complications owing to the hostile working conditions. The lawsuit says the contestants were deprived of medical care, food, sleep and the necessities of basic hygiene.
Further, one of the female plaintiffs in the complaint, said in a statement: “I wanted to join because I was a fan of MrBeast and his videos made me smile during the COVID-19 pandemic. I expected to be challenged, but I didn’t think I would be treated like nothing — less than nothing. And as one of the women, I can say it absolutely felt like a hostile environment for us. We honestly could not have been respected less — as people, much less employees — if they tried.”
As of now, neither MrBeast nor Amazon has given any statement in the matter.
