Mumbai: Acknowledging the complaint of a Mumbai-based environmentalist that over 116 acres of embargoed govt industrial land is in grave danger of being fully encroached upon in Charkop, Kandivli West, the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has written to the state revenue department as well as the BMC to ensure that no encroachment takes place on it.This follows a complaint made by Reji Abraham of United Association for Social, Educational and Public Welfare Trust, alleging the land is in grave danger of being encroached upon. A prominent private contractor has also put up its banner on the land where no formal sale can take place, it said.“While the MCZMA has recently supported our complaint on how encroachments are happening in this govt industrial land, where no sale or land lease can take place without the permission of the suburban district collector, we are now demanding an FIR be filed, based on the facts placed before the govt authorities,” said Abraham. The MCZMA communique to the BMC on this issue has also mentioned that an FIR can be filed in this matter too.
