Man drowns in Indrayani river during outing | Pune News – The Times of India

Pune: A 24-year-old man drowned in the Indrayani river at Kund Mala near Talegaon Dabhade on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as Prathamesh Lonari, a resident of Phugewadi, had visited the area for an outing with his friends.According to police, Lonari entered the river for a swim but soon began to struggle and disappeared underwater. A rescue team from Wanyajiv Rakshak Maval, led by Nilesh Garade, rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. They managed to trace Lonari within 10 minutes. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The Talegaon MIDC police have registered a case of accidental death.This is the second drowning incident reported in the Maval area in the last two days. On Thursday, a 22-year-old Rameshwar Bhand, a resident of Pimpri, drowned in the Pavana river at Salumbre village. Shirgaon police have registered an accidental death report in that case as well.
