PUNE: Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Pune on Sunday evening, bringing much-awaited relief from prolonged dry weather as monsoon activity gathered pace across the city.Showers were reported from multiple localities, with dark clouds and intermittent rain leading to a sharp change in weather conditions after a largely overcast day.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over Pune during the next few days as monsoon conditions continue to strengthen over Maharashtra.An IMD update indicates that rainfall activity over central Maharashtra, including Pune, is likely to remain active as favourable conditions persist for further advancement of the southwest monsoon.
