Hansal Mehta is currently basking in the success of his latest release ‘The Buckingham Murders’ starring Kareena Kapoor. The mystery thriller made it to the big screens on September 13 and is receiving rave reviews from the audience.
Hansal Mehta is known for unique storytelling, and he continues to make movies that he believes in. Back in 2000, when his directorial ‘Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar’, a dark comedy was released, the director received death threats. He faced political backlash, and according to a report by Free Press Journal, a group of people led by a politician showed up at his office and demanded an apology for a particular dialogue in the film. In a recent interview with News18, Hansal Mehta spoke about how he was affected by such incidents. He said that whenever there are hurdles in the journey, it is an opportunity to pick up the threads and start all over again. He stated that he sees hurdles as a sign that there are better and bigger things to come. The director further opened up about how he would move on, and start doing what he does best and loves the most.
Hansal Mehta’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’ continues its successful run in the theatres. ETimes has rated the film 3.5 out of 5 and our review reads, “A de-glam Bebo weaponises her silence amid the chaos as she seeks closure in solving the case. She hasn’t done anything like this before and this is a welcome change. This may not be an edge-of-your-seat, hard-hitting crime thriller as you expect it to be, but its understanding and expression of grief, isolation, and repressed anger is noteworthy. Also, you won’t be able to guess the killer till the end. If that’s what you are looking for, this film succeeds. You just wish the build-up was more chilling and captivating.”
