FIFTY FIFTY declines SBS ‘Inkigayo’ appearance; demands apology over last year’s tampering allegations | K-pop Movie News – Times of India

FIFTY FIFTY has recently made waves in the K-pop scene with the introduction of new members and the release of their second mini-album, ‘Love Tune’. They’ve showcased their talents on major music programs like ‘M Countdown’ and ‘Music Bank’.
However, as reported by Munhwa Ilbo, the group has taken a bold stance by boycotting the upcoming episode of ‘Inkigayo’ on September 29.This decision is seen as a protest against SBS for its failure to issue an official apology regarding last year’s tampering allegations related to their former agency, Attrakt.
In the past, SBS’s current affairs show ‘The its know’ faced major disciplinary measures from the Korea Communications Standards Commission due to biased reporting. Despite these repercussions, SBS has yet to offer a formal apology to Attrakt, which has fueled FIFTY FIFTY’s discontent. In an interview with Munhwa Ilbo on September 28, Jeon Hong-joon, CEO of Attrakt, elaborated on the group’s position. As quoted by Kbizoom, he stated, “Even if entertainment and educational programming are different, they made a huge mistake against Attrakt and the person Jeon Hong-joon in ‘The its know’”, highlighting the ongoing tensions with SBS.
Jeon emphasized the importance of accountability, asserting, “There are many calls for us to appear for promotional reasons, but if there’s no official apology, we cannot go”. The group has not submitted any formal request to participate in ‘Inkigayo’, complicating the production team’s ability to include them in the lineup. Jeon further articulated his stance by saying, “There are two kinds of death: one is physical death, and the other is economic death. I cannot engage with those who pushed me towards economic death”. His comments underscore the gravity of the situation, questioning, “How can we go there without a reasonable apology and action?”
