‘Debris from bldg sites being passed off as Mithi silt’ | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Members of BMC’s standing committee on Wednesday alleged that contractors had dumped construction debris alongside rivers to show that a higher quantum of silt had been removed during cleanup operations. NCP member Sayeeda Khan said at one such site in Kurla, the contractor engaged for desilting Mithi river had covered the debris with silt in an attempt at a cover-up. Khan, who raised the issue through a point of order, sought that drones be deployed to monitor desilting. BJP’s Priti Satam said a contractor of a sewage treatment plant was dumping debris into Walbhat river. TNN
