Consultant to be appointed for better road planning, says Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Kalyan: State deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said the govt has directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to appoint a consultant to prepare a comprehensive plan to ease traffic congestion across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).Speaking at a property exhibition organised by the MCHI-CREDAI Kalyan-Dombivli unit, Shinde said, “The consultant will study where roads need to be widened, where ring roads are required and suggest measures to make traffic movement smoother. The aim is to reduce travel time, improve efficiency and ensure people can reach work on time and spend more time with their families.” During the event, developers also raised concerns over the redevelopment of dilapidated buildings in Kalyan-Dombivli, demanding additional Floor Space Index on the lines of Thane and Mumbai to make such projects viable. Responding to the demand, Shinde said the govt would soon hold a meeting on the issue. The deputy chief minister also said a connector bridge would be constructed to link Kalyan directly with the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
