A number of celebrities including Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Sussanne Khan arrived at the prayer meet to pay their respects to Malaika Arora’s late father Anil Mehta.They offered condolences and support to the grieving family. Several photographers took to their social media and shared videos of celebrities attending the prayer meet.
In one video, Malaika can be seen arriving at the Gurudwara with her sister, Amrita Arora. Another shows Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp at the prayer meet.
Kareena Kapoor, her closest friend, was also seen attending the prayer meet to show her support for her friend. Her outfit of choice is a white suit. Her ex-boyfriend Arjun was also seen reaching the Gurudwara to pay his last respects to Anil Mehta. Sussanne Khan, Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife, was also in attendance.
Malaika’s father Anil Mehta, who passed away on September 1, reportedly jumped off the terrace of his Bandra residence in Mumbai. Arbaaz Khan, Malaika’s ex-husband, was the first to reach Malaika’s parents’ home. Family members of Arbaaz also visited the residence to offer condolences. These family members included brothers Sohail Khan and Salman Khan, sisters Alvira and Arpita, parents Salim Khan and Salma Khan, and stepmother Helen.
At that point, Malaika posted an official statement on Instagram, claiming that his passing had left the entire family “in deep shock.” Her post read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect. With gratitude, Joyce, Malaika, Amrita Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Rayyan, Casper, Axl, Duffy and Buddy.”
