Pune: The Sant Tukaramnagar police on Wednesday registered a case against a Dapodi resident, who duped six persons collectivley collectively worth Rs 16.18 lakh on the promise of securing jobs to for them in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The accused, who claimed to be an administrative secretary in the administration department (PMC), tol told the complainant there were vacant posts in the PMC on the compassionate grounds and assured the complainant he could secure those posts for his relatives.The complainant’s four relatives and two friends gave Rs 16.18 lakh to the accused in Sept 2024. They, however, di did not get the jobs. Despite, repeated follow-ups, when the accused did not return their money, a case was registered against him.An officer from the Sant Tukaramnagar police said that the complainant and the accused knew each other. In 2024, the accused told the complainant that he worked at the PMC and would help his relatives secure jobs as peons and clerks in the PMC. “The complainant’s four relatives and two friends gave him money. He, however, duped them. According to the complainant, the accused was working with the PMC. But, currently under suspension. ” Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
