‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ box office collection day 1: The Rajkummar Rao starrer fared slightly better than Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

The Rajkummar Rao, Triptii Dimri starrer ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ is a fun comedy and promises to be a family entertainer. Hence, that worked in its favour as it released with Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra‘ which is slightly considered a niche film. ‘Jigra’ was expected to have a moderate opening as it’s also a small movie made on a medium budget with only Alia being the biggest attracting factor.
While ‘Jigra’ made Rs 4.25 crore on its first day, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ did a business of around Rs 5 crore. There were expectations from it, due to Rajkummar’s last release ‘Stree 2’, however, the trade says if one removes the ‘Stree 2’ part from the picture, this is a very good number for the opening day of this film. ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ collected Rs 5 crore on Friday.
The films got affected in their evening and night shows on Friday due to Navratri and the Garba fever, but the Dussehra number is expected to be slightly better, due to the holiday. So, both, ‘Jigra’ and ‘Vicky Vidya…’ is expected to see a jump over the weekend. The early reviews of the films and word of mouth will also largely influence the film’s business.
‘Jigra’ being a multiplex movie, the multiplex numbers are always better on Saturday and hence, one surely expects a higher number over the weekend.
