Thane: A rental dispute spiralled into violence after a tenant allegedly brought in unauthorised occupants, triggering a “tri-party” conflict at a residential complex in Bhayandar Pada on Sunday. The incident took place at a flat in Lodha Splendora, the police said. Police registered two separate offences against four accused — Junaid Tahir Khan, Allauddin Khan, Subhan Khan and Tufail Khan — in connection with the incident.According to police, the flat was legally rented to Junaid Tahir Khan on a monthly rent of around Rs 20,000 with a deposit of Rs 50,000, but the dispute arose when the owner discovered that additional persons had been allowed to occupy the premises without consent. This unauthorised arrangement led to a confrontation when the owner questioned the presence of the third-party occupants. During the argument, Junaid and his associates allegedly turned aggressive and claimed control over the flat, asserting ownership-like rights over the premises. Police said the accused refused to vacate and allegedly threatened the owner and his associates, insisting they would continue to stay on the premises. The situation soon escalated into violence, with the accused allegedly using household objects as weapons. Two associates accompanying the owner were injured in the attack — one was struck on the head with a pressure cooker lid, while another sustained abdominal injuries after being hit with a fan blade.
