Tamannaah Bhatia gets questioned by ED in Guwahati over Mahadev betting app case: Report | – Times of India

Tamannaah Bhatia was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Guwahati on Thursday, making headlines for her alleged involvement in promoting illegal IPL streaming. The buzz centers around her connection to a subsidiary app of the controversial Mahadev online gaming and betting platform. The ED’s inquiry adds a twist to the ongoing investigation.
Tamannaah arrived at the ED office in Guwahati around 1:30 PM, accompanied by her mother. As of this report, she is still being questioned. The actress was summoned over allegations of promoting IPL match viewing on the Fairplay betting app, which is linked to the larger Mahadev online betting case.
FairPlay is a betting exchange platform offering various sports and entertainment gambling options. It operates as a subsidiary of the Mahadev online gaming app, which provides illegal betting platforms for live games such as Cricket, Poker, Badminton, Tennis, Football, card games, and other games of chance. The Mahadev betting app made headlines last year when actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who featured in its ads, were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning. The ongoing investigation has drawn scrutiny towards several Bollywood celebrities, following a larger crackdown on various illegal betting and gaming apps by multiple agencies.
Earlier, Sahil Khan was arrested by the Mumbai cyber cell’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) in Chhattisgarh on April 28, 2024, after the Bombay High Court denied his plea for pre-arrest bail. Khan maintained that he was merely a brand promoter contracted with M/s. Isports247 to promote The Lion Book brand, denying any direct involvement with the betting platform.

In October 2023, Shraddha Kapoor was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the Mahadev betting app case. Ranbir Kapoor was also called in the same month, while Kapil Sharma faced questioning for participating in an event organized by Saurabh Chandrakar, the app’s founder. Additionally, Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan were summoned for promoting the app, as the agencies sought to clarify their involvement and the fees they received, which the ED claimed were proceeds of crime.
