Shatrughan Sinha breaks silence on his sons Luv-Kussh’s absence from Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding: ‘I do understand their pain and confusion’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot with Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate ceremony on June 23 at their home in Bandra. While earlier there were rumours that Shatrughan Sinha was not quite happy with their inter-faith wedding, he was pretty supportive of his daughter. He’s now quite happy and has his blessings with them. However, Sonakshi’s brothers Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha gave her wedding a miss. Shatrughan Sinha has finally broken silence on their absence from Sonakshi’s wedding.
The actor though refused to give a reason for them skipping the wedding. During a chat with Lehren Retro, he said, “I won’t complain. They are only humans. They maybe still not be so mature. I do understand their pain and confusion. There is always a cultural reaction. Maybe, if I was their age, I might have had a similar reaction to it. But, here is where your maturity, seniority, and experience come in place. Hence, my reaction was not as extreme as my sons.”
He further said that he’s supportive of his daughter’s inter-faith wedding. “Of course, I will support my daughter. I don’t have any reason not to. It’s their life and their wedding. They have to lead a life. If they are sure about each other, who are we to be against it? As parents and as a father, it was my duty to support her.”
Sinha further revealed that in the day and age of women empowerment, how can it be wrong for a girl to choose a partner of her choice. “I have always been with her, and I will continue to be so. We speak so much about women’s empowerment, how is it wrong for her to choose her partner? Not like she did anything illegal. She was mature. I was enjoying her wedding parties. I was so overjoyed meeting and greeting people. They (Sonakshi and Zaheer) looked very beautiful together. There was an amazing atmosphere.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer were dating each other for seven years before they tied the knot.
