Pune: The Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasne on Saturday announced an e-waste collection campaign on Monday as part of ‘Clean Kasba’ initiative he has started for the last one and half years.Rasne said citizens from the constituencywere appealedto hand over all types of e-waste on Monday in this special drive.Rasne said around 30 garbage dumping spots have been cleared in the Kasba Peth constituency in the last few months. All these spots have undergone beautification to restrict waste dumping. In the coming days, more such spots will be cleared.He added that in addition to this, the new drive of e-waste collection was being launched in the constituency. The collection of e-waste would not be an ‘one-time’ activity and will be held every few weeks.The collected e-waste, he said, would be processed in a scientific manner by the civic administration. This would also restrict dumping of hazardous e-waste in the garbage, Rasne said.The MLA highlighted that Kasba Peth has been among the most congested areas in the city and issues of redevelopment were being handled on priority. The proposal to introduce changes in the unified development controlrules, pertaining to the reconstruction, were at the discussions with the state govt, Rasne said.
