The actor is set to play the role of Lord Ram opposite actor Yash who is reportedly playing Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film which will also star Sunny Deol as Hanuman, is poised to be one of the biggest and most expensive cinematic projects in Indian cinema.
According to a recent report by Peeping.com, Ranbir, will be seen in a dual role.Rumours are rife that the actor will also portray Maharishi Parashuram. This aligns with the fact that both Ram and Parashuram are avatars of Lord Vishnu. Kapoor will reportedly have a distinct and unrecognizable look as Parashuram, a character that holds brief but crucial significance in the epic.In another exciting development, Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly boarded the project. However, he will only lend his voice to the character of Jatayu, the divine bird who loses his wings and life while valiantly trying to rescue Goddess Sita from Ravana’s clutches.
The two-part ‘Ramayana’ is being produced on a massive scale with a reported multi-million dollar budget. The star-studded cast also includes, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, and Arun Govil as Dashrath.
Filming for ‘Ramayana Part 1’ reportedly ended last week with the team gearing up to begin work on Part 2 soon. The project, heavily reliant on VFX, will be released in two parts, with the first part slated for a grand premiere in 2026.
