Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is inching towards Rs 8 crore Day 1 in India | Hindi Movie News – Times of India


Rajinikanth is back on the big screen with director T. J. Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, following the huge success of Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer, which grossed over Rs 600 crore at the worldwide box office. In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth collaborates with Amitabh Bachchan after a gap of 32 years, the last time being for Mukul S. Anand’s Hum.
The film centers around a police officer, played by Rajinikanth, known for his disregard for rules as he faces a surge in lawlessness.Just four days ago, the makers released the film’s trailer, which rapidly amassed 11 million views online.
Vettaiyan is set to release on October 10th, during the Dussehra holiday, and will be clashing with Alia Bhatt’s Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video in Hindi. With just three days left until its release, the film is inching towards an Rs 8 crore collection.
As of now, the film has sold 1.68 lakh tickets, accumulating Rs 3.36 crore, according to Sacnilk. Additionally, it has generated Rs 4.43 crore from block bookings, bringing its total Day 1 collection to Rs 7.79 crore across all languages. As the release date approaches, the film’s collection is expected to increase. It will be interesting to see if it can surpass Jailer’s Day 1 collection of Rs 48.35 crore.
In North America, Vettaiyan is expected to mint US $1 million from its premiere shows, easily breaking Jailer’s record of US $802,000.
Vettaiyan also stars Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, and Ritika Singh in pivotal roles. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who even made a cameo in the song “Manasilaayo,” which features Rajinikanth and Manju Warrier. The song has taken social media by storm with its thumping beats and the impressive dance moves of Rajinikanth and Manju.
