Raj and DK reveal Russo brothers watched Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Stree’ before approaching them for ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Acclaimed filmmaker duo Raj and DK are gearing up for the release of the action drama ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, a spin-off of the American espionage series ‘Citadel’, headlined by Priyanka Chopra. In a recent conversation, the duo confirmed that the Russo brothers, makers of ‘Citadel’ and the acclaimed Marvel universe, had watched the 2018 horror drama ‘Stree‘, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK revealed that Joe and Anthony Russo had seen ‘Stree’ and a rough cut of ‘The Family Man‘ before approaching them for ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’.

Raj stated, “I think they had watched ‘The Family Man’ Season 1 edit—it hadn’t released yet—and they had watched ‘Stree’!”. He added that the Russo brothers had seen more of their work, though he wasn’t certain if it included ‘Shor in the City’.

Raj Nidimoru also disclosed that the Russo brothers reviewed edits of ‘The Family Man’ during production, as Prime Video shared the cuts with them. He mentioned that while the Russos encouraged the duo to retain their creative voice and style, they also had to align with the broader narrative and universe the Russos envisioned, requiring a balance between unique storytelling and fitting into the larger framework.
Meanwhile, Krishna DK shared that, during their meeting with the Russo brothers, the latter emphasized that they didn’t want the Indian version of ‘Citadel’ to resemble the original. Instead, the Russos encouraged them to explore their creative vision freely and develop the show according to their own ideas.
‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ on Prime Video is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles.
