Pune: A 30-year-old man riding pillion on a motorcycle died after the two-wheeler skidded and crashed into an oncoming PMPML bus in the BRTS lane at Rahatani while trying to overtake another vehicle on April 3. His colleague (26), who was driving the motorcycle, survived with leg injuries, as he was wearing a helmet.A case was registered on Sunday against the motorcycle driver with the Kalewadi police. The police have identified the deceased as Sagar Devare of Rahatani. Devare was working as the sales executive with a private finance firm.Police sub-inspector Aslam Mujawar of the Kalewadi police station told TOI that the accident happened on Friday around 8.45pm when Devare and his colleague were returning home from Jejuri.After entering Rahatani, the biker started riding in the BRTS route, barred for private vehicles. “In an attempt to overtake a car, the accused applied sudden brakes on seeing PMPML bus coming from the opposite side and crashed into it,. “Both injured riders were taken to a private hospital where Devare was pronunced dead by the doctors. The The PMPML driver lodged a complaint against the rider,” he said.The officer said that the driver’s right leg fractured, while Devare sustained severe injuries on his head and legs. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors. “The PMPML driver on Sunday lodged a complaint against the motorcycle driver,” the officer said.
