MUMBAI: In a bid to strengthen emergency response on the accident-prone Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, SaveLIFE Foundation, with support from Auto Hangar India Private Limited, has upgraded Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kasa and Rural Hospital (RH) Talasari in Palghar into trauma stabilisation centres.The initiative focuses on the Dahisar–Achad stretch of National Highway 48, part of the Zero Fatality Corridor (ZFC) programme that targets India’s high-risk road segments. The upgrade includes critical equipment for airway management, breathing support and bleeding control—key interventions required to stabilise crash victims during the ‘golden hour’.Officials said the move will enable both facilities to deliver timely, life-saving care and help reduce preventable deaths and long-term disabilities from road accidents.Dr Bhoye Prabhakar, medical superintendent at RH Talasari, said the addition of essential equipment would significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to handle trauma cases. “This initiative will play a crucial role in reducing fatalities in the region,” he said.Auto Hangar CEO Heswyn D’souza said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to road safety. “Strengthening trauma care along this corridor is key to ensuring timely medical access when it matters most,” he said.SaveLIFE Foundation founder and CEO Piyush Tewari remarкed that most road deaths are preventable with prompt care. “By upgrading these facilities, we are ensuring victims have a fighting chance within the golden hour,” he said.The ZFC programme adopts a systems-based approach—covering engineering, enforcement, emergency care and awareness—to reduce fatalities across 100 high-risk corridors nationwide.
