Actress Nayanthara has written an open letter to Dhanush after the latter sued her for 10 crores over her documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The FairyTale‘. So, what is the real reason behind the alleged fallout between Nayanthara and Dhanush?
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala, who has been tracking the South industry for a long time, gave ETimes a lowdown on what made Nayanthara write an open letter to Dhanush.
He said, “Dhanush produced a film titled ‘Naanum Rowdy’ which was directed by Vignesh Shivan and had Nayanthara as the female lead. It was during the making of this film that Vignesh and Nayanthara fell in love and eventually got married.”Producer Dhanush felt the budget of the film had overshot. Bala added, “Towards the end of the shooting, he did not provide the finances to complete the film. Nayanthara spent her own money to complete the film for the love of her life, Vignesh Shivan.”
The documentary on Nayanthara was set to release on her birthday, November 18, titled Beyond The Fairytale. Bala shared, “About 10 years after the film, when Nayanthara wanted to make her wedding documentary and since Naanum Rowdy had love songs and there were behind-the-scenes moments, she wanted to use it. She asked Dhanush to give her an NOC to use it, which was refused by him.”
The actress waited for two years for Dhanush to issue the NOC and also pressured the South industry, but the actor did not listen to anyone. Bala said, “It was only after that they decided to change the documentary’s title to Beyond The Fairytale and since they couldn’t use the footage, a three-second clip that was shot on Nayanthara’s mobile phone was used in the trailer of the documentary, and Dhanush has sued her for that three-second clip.”
When asked what the real reason for this major fallout was, Bala said, “One of the main reasons was the film going over budget, along with creative differences. There were some incidents when Nayanthara taunted Dhanush after winning an award for the same film, apparently saying, ‘My producer doesn’t like my acting,’ and Dhanush was sitting there in the front of the same event.”
