A woman in Meghalaya was beaten with sticks by a group of men after she was accused of having an extra-marital affair.
In a video that is viral, the woman is seen being thrashed in public by the group at Dadenggre in West Garo Hills.
A crowd watches the assault silently, no one attempting to stop the attackers.
The police have arrested five people.
According to the police, the accused alleged that the woman was having an extra-marital affair.
Santa Mary Shylla, an MLA who heads the Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women’s Empowerment, took note of the incident and sought a report from the police.
