Kartik Aaryan reveals he struggled to pay rent after back-to-back box office failures: ‘I didn’t have much money and my films were not working’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Kartik Aaryan was busy promoting his much-awaited movie, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘, part of the acclaimed horror franchise by Anees Bazmee. The film hit theaters today (November 1) and received decent reviews from fans and critics.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he was struggling financially even after doing a few films in the industry. After his movies started failing at the box office, the actor couldn’t even manage to pay his home rent.
In a chat with Mashable India, Kartik shared that after his debut film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, he moved into a home by himself. However, after several consecutive box office failures, he struggled with household expenses, making him rethink his decision to live alone. “I moved into a house where I lived alone, but I was struggling a lot then. I didn’t have much money coming in, and my films were not working,” the actor shared, referencing his continued box office disappointments, including ‘Akaash Vaani’, ‘Kaanchi’, and ‘Guest in London’.

Kartik Aaryan says he ‘used to travel via local train to Andheri’ during his struggling days

He recalled a time when he couldn’t afford the rent and considered getting roommates or sharing the space to manage expenses. “There was a point where I couldn’t pay the rent of this house. It was a very strange time because I was thinking of either bringing in some roommates or starting sharing with someone else,” he emphasized. This difficult period eventually turned around when he landed the film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, marking a breakthrough moment in his career. At this point, Kartik had already been in the film industry for seven years.

In the same chat, the ‘Chandu Champion‘ actor also shared that he used to live in a 3-BHK apartment with 12 people, staying in the living room with only one mattress. “I was paying Rs 2,000 as rent then. At one point, it went up to Rs 4,000,” he added.
Kartik will reprise his role as Rooh Baba in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which is expected to face off against Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’.
