Jr NTR’s Devara Inches Towards ₹40 Crore Mark in North America | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Jr NTR, commonly referred to as the “Man of the Masses,” is back on the big screen after SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, which released in 2022. His latest release, Devara, has been highly anticipated as it marks his return as a solo lead after a gap of six years. Fans have been flocking to theaters in large numbers, not only in India but also in North America. In recent years, North America has become a significant market for Telugu films, with Telugu now the 11th most spoken language in the United States.
Devara has already crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India within just two days, with day 1 raking in ₹82.5 crore and day 2 bringing in another ₹40 crore, taking the film’s total collection to ₹122.5 crore. It became the second biggest opening for Telugu cinema this year, after Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, led by Prabhas.
Jr NTR’s Devara is also performing well in North America. The premiere shows alone brought in US $2.85 million, with day 1 adding another US $920,000 and day 2 potentially bringing in US $670,000. This brings the two-day total for the film in North America to US $4.4 million (₹37.15 crore), making it one of the biggest box office openings for the South Indian superstar, who will soon be making his Hindi debut alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji.
Though Devara opened big, the significant drop in collections on day 2 has raised concerns. Sunday’s collections will be crucial in determining the film’s trajectory. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, with the second part set to be led by Bobby Deol.
