‘Jigra’ box office collection day 11: Alia Bhatt’s film sees a huge dip on Monday, makes Rs 60 lakhs; likely to end up with a lifetime business of Rs 35 crore – Times of India

Jigra‘ had released with ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ and while both these movies have a different target audience range, the latter one did have an edge. It was more massy and hence got slightly more numbers than the Alia Bhatt starrer. ‘Jigra’ made Rs 1.7 crore and Rs 1.9 crore on its second Saturday and Sunday but it saw a dip by a huge margin on Monday now.
On Day 11, while one had hoped it atleast remains in the crore range, the film has gone down to Rs 60 lakhs on Monday. Thus, the total collection now stands at Rs 27.80 crore, according to Sacnilk. The trade had predicted that the film may have a lifetime collection of about Rs 40 crore, however, even that looks difficult now. It may just be able to touch Rs 35 crore or even lesser.
Meanwhile, the Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Vicky Vidya..’ may manage to touch Rs 40-45 crore as a lifetime business. The film also saw a drop on Monday and the total number so far is in the range of Rs 34 crore.
While ‘Jigra’ was considered a niche, multiplex kind of a movie, it would have been quite a relief if it had done well atleast in the major cities. It did decent only in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore but even in these centres, it could have done better, according to Box Office India. Thus, ‘Jigra’ may end up with an all-time low number for an Alia Bhatt movie. Though, it has already recovered money from its digital streaming and satellite rights, thus making up for its low box office.
