Pune: The Sant Tukaram police have launched a search for a Indapur-resident for cheating three people for Rs 44 lakh by promising them govt jobs in state govt departments in Pune and Nagpur between Sept 2024 and Oct 2025.A pharmacy shopowner (38) of Pimpri lodged a complaint with the Sant Tukaram police on Friday.According to the police, the pharmacy owner was looking for a job for his nephew. His nephew wanted a govt job. He came to know about the man from Indapur through a common friend.His friend told the pharmacy owner that the man had good connections with the senior govt officers and he could provide permanent govt jobs, police added.Police said the victim then contacted his friends and others who were looking for govt jobs. The complainant and his friends met with the suspect and he claimed that he can provide govt jobs to the aspirants with his contact. He took money ranging from Rs 10 lakh to 15 lakh from the victims.Later, he gave them fake appointment letters and called them to the different offices across state for joining. When victims visited offices of the social welfare department, state prisons office in Nagpur and other places, the officials informed them that the appointment letters were fake.
