Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken’s report has no call for action against Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in connection with the rebellion of 92 MLAs supporting him.
Disciplinary action has been advised against three of the MLAs — chief whip Mahesh Joshi, RTDC chairman Dharmendra Pathak and Shanti Dhariwal, who hosted the parallel meeting of MLAs where they passed a resolution on the next Chief Minister.
At the meeting, the MLAs had raised the issue of Sachin Pilot’s rebellion in 2020 and passed a resolution saying the Chief Minister must be chosen from among those who supported the government at the time. Â
Later, 92 MLAs skipped the legislature party meet meant to choose successor of Mr Gehlot, met the Speaker and threatened mass resignation to keep out Mr Pilot from the top post.
The MLAs had also refused to have one-on-one meetings with Central leaders, countering party chief Sonia Gandhi’s bid to resolve the situation.
