Flat dispute between developer and fashion designer, his kin lead to cross FIRs in Mumbai | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: A dispute between a builder and a buyer over a flat in Oshiwara has led to registration of cross first information reports (FIRs).Oshiwara police have registered a cheating case against developer Sameer Bhube on the complaint of fashion designer Riyaz Ganji and an extortion case against Ganji and his niece Fazila Mukhi on the builder’s cross complaint. As per the complaint, in April 2016, Ganji paid Rs 45 lakh of the total payment of Rs 72 lakh for a flat in Royal Green Project in the names of Akil and Fazila Mukhi, who reside in Dubai.Bhube told the police that the project experienced delays due to administrative and regulatory approvals. Despite the delays, his company paid a total rent of Rs 4.2 lakh to the purchasers between Jan 2025 and Dec 2025 as compensation.Bhube claimed they were assured possession of the flat by Jan 5, 2026. However, he alleged that the balance amount remained unpaid.Bhube further alleged that on January 7, 2026, the Mukhis allegedly threatened him with death and demanded Rs 1.5 crore. He also claimed that the accused, including Gangji, warned him, saying they had connections with influential individuals in Dubai and threatened to harm him, his business partners and his family if their demand was not met.Gangji has rubbished the allegations, saying that the FIR is an afterthought and was done to suppress their FIR registered at Oshiwara police station.Ganji, speaking to TOI, said, “He has lodged an FIR to suppress our complaint. We are moving court for the quashing of this FIR.”TOI tried to contact Bhube, but his phone was found to be switched off.Police said that Bhube’s anticipatory bail application was recently rejected by a sessions court, and he is on the run.
