Bobby Deol: I can’t speak Tamil, Siva has found the perfect voice to bring Udhiran to Life – Exclusive!! – Times of India

After wowing audiences with his fierce role in ‘Animal’, Bobby Deol is set to make his Tamil film debut with ‘Kanguva‘, directed by Siva and starring Suriya in the lead. Known for his intense screen presence, Bobby takes on yet another powerful antagonist role as Udhiran in this epic action film, where his character will go head-to-head with Suriya’s character. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Bobby shared insights into working in a language that’s unfamiliar to him and how he tackled the challenge of delivering authentic dialogues in Tamil.
When asked about performing in a language he doesn’t speak, Bobby admitted, “Those dialogues—I can’t reveal too much, but I definitely can’t speak Tamil.” The actor explained that the film’s director, Siva, came up with a creative solution to ensure his performance remained impactful. “Siva is an amazing director. He knows exactly how he wants each character to feel and has such a clear vision for Udhiran. He understands how crucial this character is to the screenplay.”
To bring Udhiran’s intensity to life, Siva arranged for a talented voice artist to dub Bobby’s lines, capturing the precise tone needed for his role. “Siva found someone really skilled to dub my voice, and it makes all the difference. The right voice is essential for the emotions to come through,” Bobby explained. “Without that, it would be hard for the audience to fully connect with the character.”
As Bobby Deol steps into Tamil cinema with Kanguva, fans are excited to witness his collaboration with Suriya and the unique portrayal of a formidable antagonist in a grand, larger-than-life production. With Siva’s careful direction and a well-matched dubbing artist, Bobby’s debut promises to leave a lasting impact.

‘I couldn’t have asked for a better debut film,’ says Tamil actor Bobby Simha about ‘777 Charlie’
