ETimes has exclusively learnt that Bharat Shah, who was the presenter/producer of the original film Border, has issued a notice to JP Dutta, asking for the overflows of the film, which hasn’t been shared with him since the release of the film.
Bharat Shah had said in an interview, “I have not been paid a single penny from the film.”
He has even issued a notice about the same in Trade Magazine Complete Cinema, that when the agreement between the two was breached, their matter was referred for arbitration which led to deed of settlement between the two parties. In the deed it was agreed upon that after exploiting the rights, all the overflow is required to be shared by and between the two parties and JP Dutta was also asked to keep Bharat Shah abreast of all the updates but Shah was not paid anything even when the deed came into effect.
Bharat Shah even filed a complaint against Dutta with the Indian Film & TV Producer’s council as there was no response from JP Dutta.
The original film starred Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Jackie Shroff and Pooja Bhatt and was based on 1971 India-Pakistan War.
