Former child star Avantika is all grown up and is making waves in the West with her various Hollywood film projects. On the occasion of Diwali, the beauty captured the hearts of fans with a touching message that celebrates her Indian heritage.
The actress took to social media to share stunning photos of herself in a dazzling white saree as she set out Diwali greetings to all. In her note, she reflected on cultural pride, and the importance of community.
Avantika began her post writing, “Happy Diwali! If it is not too much to ask, in the spirit of Diwali, I ask that you donate some money to young children in India.”
Her message went on to highlight the immense gratitude she feels for “the food on my table, the roof above my head, and the loved ones around me has been greater than ever before.”
In an open and vulnerable moment, the actress also shared the complexities she faces as a Hindu and a second-generation immigrant in the United States. She admitted, “I often struggle with finding spaces in America where I can openly embrace my culture and ancestry.” She went on to add, “and so when I find the opportunity, I am thankful and deeply grateful to celebrate this holiday amongst people I love and admire in every way.”
Fans and followers took to her comments section to respond with messages of support and love for the festive season. Others seemed smitten by her desi avatar in her sheer saree.
On the work front, Avantika will next be seen in the upcoming film ‘Ballerina Overdrive‘ that will see her sharing screen space with Uma Thurman, Michael Culkin, Millicent Simmonds, Maddie Ziegler, among others.
