The seeds are commonly used in cooking to add flavor and aroma to a wide variety of dishes, especially in Indian, Middle Eastern, and Mexican cuisines. Cumin is a key ingredient in many spice blends such as curry powder, garam masala, and chili powder. It is used in both whole form and ground form. Whole cumin seeds are often toasted to enhance their flavor before being ground or used in recipes. Ground cumin is more convenient for seasoning and is a popular ingredient in spice rubs, marinades, soups, stews, and rice dishes.
