Aparshakti Khurana on his bond with brother Ayushmann Khurrana: ‘It’s a very old school Ram-Lakshman kind of relationship’ – Times of India

Aparshakti Khurana, who is known for his remarkable acting abilities, is also well-known for his strong bond with his brother, actor Ayushmann Khurrana. Aparshakti was recently spotted bowing down and touching Ayushmann’s feet during the screening of his latest film ‘Berlin’. In response to the video, the actor has now shared a memory of how their father taught them this custom.
During a conversation with Digital Commentary, Aparshakti gave an explanation of the origins of the custom of touching his brother Ayushmann’s feet.Aparshakti, who described their bond as “old-school Ram-Lakshman kind,” revealed that their father had imposed a rule that required him to touch his elder brother’s feet every morning or be denied living in the house.
Aparshakti shared, “The thing is, you don’t really know how to speak with your older brother when you are young, you don’t know how to respect him. So Papa used to keep telling me to call him ‘bhaiya’ but I wouldn’t.”
He also remembered a fight with his brother that occurred when he was between eight and nine years old. The actor recalled, “One day, when we were playing, we got into a fight and I called him something like ‘saala’ or ‘kameena’ or something and that day I was beaten up a lot. After that, the conclusion was that from this day on, you will call him ‘bhaiya’ and every morning you will touch his feet in the morning and that is the only way you can stay in this house, or you can’t stay in this house.”
Aparshakti also shared an insight into their bond and they have a very middle-class and small-town upbringing. He said, “I think once you start doing this, there is less scope to fight or to have a conflict, because then you can’t yell at them, and you will not say any bad thing. And if you don’t say anything bad, there is no room for a fight, so it’s a very old school Ram-Lakshman kind of relationship. We have a very middle class and small town upbringing and, perhaps, that’s why things are still good between us.”
On the work front, Aparshakti Khurana was last seen in the blockbuster horror-comedy film ‘Stree 2’. His latest series ‘Berlin’ was released on Zee5. It also stars Rahul Bose and Anupriya Goenka in pivotal roles.
