But the achievement of the film doesn’t end here, the film has now gone to become the highest grossing Indian film in the post covid era at the global box office with US $ 166.8 million Rs 1414 crore collection. As per Comscore estimates Pushpa 2 added US $ 29.21 million to its kitty, an all time record. Out of this US $ 1.6 million (Rs 13.57 crore) came from the US markets alone while total North America collection is at US $ 12.5 million. The international markets including India added another US $ 27.59 million ( Rs 233 crore). The total contribution from India’s markets is Rs 175 crore with the rest coming in from territories across Europe, Gulf and Asia Pacific regions.
Well the profitability of the film at least in North America is still under question as the breakeven for the film has been pegged as US $ 15 million. And over the past few days the collection of the film has been dipping with a spike coming in only during the weekends.
Pushpa 2 has already become the second biggest hit of Indian Cinema with an 11 day collection of Rs 900 crore, beating Yash and Prashanth Neel’s KGF 2 which had collected Rs 859.1 crore. The Sukumar directed film is already the highest grossing film of the year and second biggest Hindi film of the year. Distributor Anil Thadani who paid Rs 200 crore for Hindi rights in North America would be laughing his way to the bank as he has earned twice the money on his investment. And it is the Hindi version of the film that is performing much better than the original Telugu version.
