Pune: A dispute over spitting on a shoe rack turned violent in a housing society in Morwadi in Pimpri when a Std XII student allegedly stabbed his 51-year-old neighbour with a knife on June 10.The Sant Tukaramnagar police have arrested the minor’s mother and detained the student under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).“The victim sustained stab injuries on his back and head. He is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. His wife has lodged a complaint,” an officer from the Sant Tukaramnagar police said.The victim and the accused are neighbours, and the shoe rack belongs to the former. On the night of June 10, when the complainant, her husband and the minor were riding the lift, they had a heated argument over spitting on the shoe rack. “During the argument, the minor threatened to kill the woman’s husband. They also scuffled inside the lift,” the officer said.Later, when the woman and her husband were going to lodge a police complaint, the minor and his mother allegedly attacked the complainant’s husband. The minor’s mother abused him, while the student allegedly stabbed him in the back and head with a knife.“The duo fled the spot. The victim’s wife approached the police on June 11 and lodged a complaint,” the officer said, adding that they arrested the minor’s mother and detained the student. “Our investigation is underway,” he said.
