MUMBAI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway continued round-the-clock vigilance to safeguard railway property and played multiple roles in passenger safety and security from January 1 to April 30, reuniting 584 children and adults and saving 25 lives through its key operations. During the period, RPF personnel carried out sustained efforts to rescue vulnerable children and adults found on railway premises and to prevent accidents involving passengers boarding or deboarding moving trains. Under the RPF’s “Operation Nanhe Faristey”, the force continued its humanitarian mission of safeguarding and rescuing runaway, missing and destitute children found on railway premises. From January to April, the RPF on Central Railway rescued 499 children, including 331 boys and 168 girls, and reunited them with their families or handed them over to Child Welfare Committees and NGOs. Under the RPF’s “Operation Dignity”, the force continued its humanitarian initiatives to provide care and protection to vulnerable people found on railway premises by identifying and rescuing men and women in distress and ensuring timely assistance and rehabilitation. From January to April, RPF personnel rescued a total of 85 people, including 38 men and 47 women, who needed care and protection. Under “Operation Jeevan Raksha”, RPF staff displayed vigilance and courage in saving passengers who slipped while trying to board or deboard moving trains. From January to April, a total of 25 lives were saved across Central Railway, including 20 male and five female passengers. The alertness and prompt action of RPF personnel helped prevent untoward incidents at railway stations on multiple occasions and saved lives.
