PUNE: A special Pocso court in Junnar on April 7 sentenced a 39year-old farmer to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his eight-year-old daughter.Special Judge SB Shelar held that the prosecution had sufficiently proved that “the pious bond between the father and a daughter has been violated by the accused”.According to the prosecution, the incident took place on Dec 19, 2020, in a village in Junnar, when the survivor was at home with her father and younger sibling. The prosecution alleged that the accused sexually assaulted his daughter and physically assaulted her when she resisted. She later disclosed the incident to relatives and her mother, following which a complaint was lodged at Otur police station.The court relied on her testimony, medical evidence and forensic material while convicting the accused. The judgment records that the medical findings were consistent with sexual assault and also referred to injuries on the child’s body.
