Pune: The Ravet police have registered a case of cheating and forgery against a resident of the area for allegedly duping his relatives and a realtor of Rs 75 lakh.The accused reportedly created a fake acknowledgement receipt for a three-acre plot owned by his relatives in the Ravet area and attempted to sell it to the realtor.A 60-year-old farmer, the owner of the land, recently lodged a police complaint.The complainant alleged that his relative forged the signatures of him, his brother and a woman relative to create a duplicate acknowledgement receipt. “Using this forged document, the accused entered into an MoU with a realtor and took Rs 75 lakh from him,” an officer from Ravet police said.He said that despite repeated follow-ups, the accused failed to return the money, prompting the complainant to approach the police. “Our investigation is underway,” he said.
