Mumbai: Commuters on Mumbai Metro Line-1 will now be able to earn cashback on everyday online shopping and use the savings to offset travel costs, with the corridor operator launching a new app-based rewards feature on Monday.The Reliance Infrastructure-promoted Mumbai Metro One said the platform allows users to get up to ₹20 cashback per transaction on purchases made through leading e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Ajio. The cashback is credited instantly and can be redeemed directly into the commuter’s bank account.The newly launched RapidCash feature has been introduced in partnership with RapidCash, Acetech Digital and SequelString AI Pvt Ltd. Metro officials said the initiative is designed to make daily commuting more affordable by integrating online shopping spends with urban mobility savings.A spokesperson for Mumbai Metro One said the initiative is the first of its kind in the metro industry and gives commuters additional value on purchases they are already making, while allowing them to continue availing existing offers on shopping platforms.The operator said the launch builds on a series of commuter-centric innovations introduced over nearly 12 years, including WhatsApp ticketing, QR-based mobile tickets, Metro Rewards and unlimited travel passes. It claimed to have served more than 120 crore commuters so far while maintaining over 99% punctuality.The app is now available on Android and iOS platforms.
