Maha Metro submits revised DPR for Bhakti-Shakti Chowk to Chakan line | Pune News – The Times of India

Pune: Maha Metro has submitted a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the elevated Metro line from Bhakti Shakti Chowk to Chakan to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for further consideration. The proposed line will cover a total distance of 47.2km, an increase of 5km from the earlier planned length of 42.2km. In addition, three new stations have been included, bringing the total number of stations to 34 from the earlier 31.The inclusion of additional stations has increased the project cost to Rs 12,937 crore, up from the earlier estimate of Rs 10,383 crore.Significant alignment changes have been proposed in the Bhosari MIDC, Landewadi and Bhosarigaon areas to improve accessibility for more commuters. The project also includes an integrated double-decker flyover from Bhosari to Chakan, spanning 17km, which will be constructed in association with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). As part of the revised plan, the DPR recommends the demolition of the existing flyover at Bhosari and its reconstruction, Maha Metro officials stated.PCMC is expected to discuss the DPR and provide its suggestions. Following PCMC’s approval, the proposal will be forwarded to state govt for final clearance.“We have also proposed provisions at the Bhakti Shakti and Chakan terminals for future Metro expansions. A potential line may be developed from Bhakti Shakti Chowk towards Talawade MIDC–Kharabwadi–Chakan. In addition, the corridor could be connected to the proposed Wakad–Katraj line at Bhujbal Chowk through track connectivity,” a Maha Metro official said.“Work on a Metro line from PCMC to Bhakti Shakti Chowk, covering areas such as Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi, is already underway,” he added.
