MUMBAI: A group of citizens will gather at Versova beach on April 12, Sunday evening, to raise awareness against the ongoing cutting of Mangroves for the Versova Bhayander Coastal road project. The gathering is a citizen-led initiative that is expected to highlight the importance of preserving habitats for birds, animals, and insects that form an integral part of the city’s ecosystem. Participants are encouraged to express their support through creative posters and placards stressing that while digitally designed materials is welcome; however, any AI-generated content is discouraged. “This is a call for citizens to come together, engage, and stand up for the green spaces that sustain Mumbai’s future,” said one of the organisers.Meanwhile Mili Shetty a local resident from Charkop witnessing the cutting of mangroves daily from her home said that what was once their vibrant and healthy neighbourhood now faces uncertainty with the green cover being cut off.
